I've always been fascinated by the way light plays across their delicate, papery skins, revealing a spectrum of colours you wouldn't expect.  From the rich warm rich tones of the bulb to the beautiful cool colours of the stems.  The twine holding them together gives an added element of texture.Using the vibrancy of oil paint combined with glazes, adds an almost sculptural quality to the humble onion.  The dark background makes the onions pop, creating a dramatic focal point whilst emphasizing the luminosity of their forms.The sides of the painting are painted black so can be hung without a frame.Supplied with a Certificate of Authenticity
