I decided to paint these beautiful poppies in colours not seen naturally in the flower, using a variety of blues. greens and burnt siennas. As I was painting the liqueur Chartreuse came to mind, I could almost taste the flavours of lime, citrus spice and fresh cut herbs. Painting in Close focus gives a contemporary abstracted feel.
